getting to know me

This week we thought it was time that you got to know us a little better. So I (Tash) have volunteered to go first. Eek! We started by asking you the things you wanted to know about us (via Instagram stories) and then we added a few questions of our own.

Medium Questions

What is your ideal day?

Waking up next to Marthe. Going surfing for the morning, then eating a delicious vegan lunch. Relaxing on the beach for the afternoon, perhaps writing and reading and then performing in a live show in the evening.

Tash T

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Out of all of the places I have been so far, it would have to be Bali.

Are you religious or spiritual?

I am a Buddhist and member of SGI-UK, practising Nichiren Buddhism. We chant Nam-Mhoyo-Renge-Kyo (said Nam – yo – ren – gay – kyo) every morning and evening.

Biggest pet peeve?

Oh, I actually have quite a few. But my top ones are, people eating with their mouth open. People being rude and a lack of common sense.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?

Sarcastic, Empathetic, Intelligent, determined and a little cocky

What bothers you about the world today?

The current state of our planet. How we are destroying it for the sake of convenience and money.  “There is no Planet B”

How old were you when you came out?

I was 16 when I came out to myself and my girlfriend at the time, but 18 when I felt fully comfortable to share it with the rest of the world. But you can learn all about that story in my ‘Coming out story’ blog post.

Hard Questions

If you died tomorrow, what would you wish you had done?

Written a book and performed on a West End stage.

What’s your biggest fear?

Failing. Not achieving my goals and reaching my full potential or being able to repay my parents back for all they have done for me.

When was the last time you cried?

Hmmmm, can’t remember exactly, but probably yesterday. I can actually be quite emotional, especially with Marthe, when going through LDR challenges.

What person has given you the best advice in life?

My Dad, he is my go-to person for advice. He has also been an incredible role model for me growing up. Teaching me the power of the mind and how positive thinking influences your experiences and the world around you.

Tash t
“Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself”

What are you most proud of?

My work ethic. I think that I possess a determination that not all people have. Friends often comment that they have no idea how I achieve so much in the same 24hr day. I just have this ability to keep going and going and going, until the task is done.

Have you ever lost someone close?

Yes, my brother Nick died suddenly at age 25 from Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. I was 17 at the time and it shifted my perspective on life massively. It had a huge impact on me and shaped me into the person I am today.

What are you most thankful for?

My health and my body. I am so thankful that I have a body that is able to do all the things I want to do in life, both physically and mentally.

What is the one thing people misunderstand about you?

A lot of people think that I am quite tough. Then when they get to know me, they realise I am a total softy and actually quite emotional.

Your Questions

How did you meet?

We met in Bali, at a surf retreat.

Who said I want to date first?

No one said about dating first, but Marthe made her feelings more obvious in the beginning. However, I said, ‘I love you’ first and also officially asked Marthe to be my girlfriend when she came to visit me in London for the first time.

You can read both our stories of ‘How we met’ Here & Here

What is your favourite memory together so far?

My favourite memory is the 5 days we spent together in Nusa Penida. Every day we woke up in paradise and spent the day exploring the island on our little scooter. It was where we really fell in love with each other and it was magical.

Tash T ask me anything
“When you know yourself, you are empowered. When you accept yourself, you are invincible.”

When did we know we were in love?

My heart knew I loved her within the first few days of meeting. However, I didn’t accept it until Valentines Day (cheesy I know). It’s actually when I first said the L word.

How do we conquer finding friends as a couple?

It’s not a problem that we have. Currently living in two separate countries means that we have our own circle of friends. Although, since starting the blog, we have actually made a lot of friends with similar couples and people.
